What else should I know about Eugent Bushpepa?

Eugent Bushpepa was born in Rrëshen, Albania in 1984 and started singing from an early age. After finishing high school he left Albania to move to Italy, before returning in 2006 as a singer on one of  Top Channel’s talk shows.

Eugent entered Top Fest (a music competition Top Channel organise) in 2007 with the song “Maska e Madheshtise”. He also entered the same competition as part of rock band Sunrise with the song “Engjell”Since this initial entry, Eugent has continued to participate in Top Fest over the years with various songs, becoming one of Albania’s biggest singers.

Outside of Top Fest, his band has supported Deep Purple on their Rapture of the Deep tour. As well as this, Eugent joined Darkology as their tour vocalist in 2014 and together they went on to support Overkill on their European tour.

Towards the end of last year, Eugent won Albania’s national selection final (Festivali i Këngës 56) for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. As the winner of the competition, he will be heading off to Lisbon in May to represent Albania at the 2018 contest. He won the competition with the song “Mall” which means “Yearning” in English, and it became the first song of the 2018 contest to be revealed. At the time of the song’s release, it was four and a half minutes long which is too long for Eurovision and therefore had to be revamped. Fast forward a few months and the revamped version of “Mall” is here, cut down in length from the original but still in Albanian, much to fans delight.

Although Eugent has released many singles in his career, he is yet to release an album. We hope an album will be on the cards after his appearance at Eurovision, as we cannot get enough of his incredible voice.
