“Not 20 Anymore” tackles a subject close to Bebe’s heart. Based on a snippet that Bebe shared during a live stream earlier this year, the latest track is an empowering anthem and takes a powerful stance against ageism particularly towards women which is forced by the orthodox opinions of the patriarchal society. On August 12, the hitmaker Bebe followed up the good news with a sexy black & white picture on her social media and shared a post talking about a previous incident and made an empowering statement which is the inspiration behind this latest single.
She captioned:
“I recently had a MALE music executive tell me that I was getting too old and that my brand was ‘confusing. Because I’m a songwriter and I post sexy pics on my Instagram and that’s not what female songwriters are supposed to do, especially for my age. I’m 29.”
She then embraced herself and made a remarkable statement saying,
“I’m fed up with being put in a box. I make my own rules. I’m tired f women getting labeled as ‘hags’ when they get old and guys get labeled as ‘sexy’ with age. Anyways, I’m turning 30 on August 30 and you know what, I’m not running away from it. I’m wiser, I’m stronger and TRUST ME I’m a much better lover than I was 10 years ago.”
Bebe Rexha made an official announcement about the song “Not 20 Anymore” on her social media accounts along with sharing a sexy black & white closeup up of her face as the title artwork of the track. Though Bebe has clarified that this song is not an official release but “Just a treat” for her for Rexhars on her birthday.
