Two house music heavyweights, Brazilian producer Bhaskar, and West London’s JADED, join forces on their new release, “When I See It,” featuring The Vic via CONTROVERSIA RECORDS.
Bhaskar explains, “‘When I See It’ emerged some time ago through conversations between JADED and myself on the internet. I had a tour scheduled for Europe and would be in London, so I reached out to them. We decided to meet and create a song together.”
He goes on, “I believe ‘When I See It’ does echo ‘Tina’ but in a lighter way, more accessible, for instance, in its lyrics, which aren’t as heavy as ‘Tina,’ neither is instrumental. So I see it as a ‘Tina 2.0,’ but lighter and more digestible.”
While JADED says, “This song is all about that undeniable feeling you experience with other people that doesn’t require a description, it’s an understanding that whatever this sound is we are experiencing together is hitting all the right emotions and feelings and is just right! We all felt this very quickly when things started cooking up with Bhaskar in our West London studio! The Vic’s undeniable vocal really delivers this one straight into the cosmos.”
In 2004, at the age of 12, Bhaskar began making music with his twin brother Alok. At first, it was simply a hobby, but soon graduated to much more. Before long, he was touring the world performing his music. Along with hits like “Fuego,” with more than 157 million streams, and “Infinity,” with 137 million streams, Bhaskar has collaborated with and remixed artists like Yves V, Moguai, Dubdogz, Wankelmut, Lucas Estrada, Brazilian pop star Anitta, his brother Alok, and Vintage Culture.
JADED, made up of Nari and Teo, have made a name for themselves internationally, and recent releases on Diplo’s Higher Ground have helped them make a bigger dent in the underground dance scene. Their hits include “Welcome To The People,” which has collected over 28 million streams, “Zorro,” and “Overtime,” resulting in more than 1.7 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
“I Know It When I See It” travels on percolating synths riding a pulsating rhythm infused with a fat, throbbing bassline, giving the tune a pushing beat demanding listeners get up and move to the groove. The Vic’s spoken vocals imbue the lyrics with deep timbres, revealing dreamy textures at once alluring and evocative. Shimmering harmonic layers, dazzling drops, and beaucoup low-slung momentum deliver contagious energy.
With “I Know It When I See It,” Bhaskar and JADED project lush, delicious surfaces of captivating house music brimming with oomph.
