Dabber’s Social Bingo, London’s best-loved alternative Bingo Hall is on the hunt for its 2023 ‘Next Top Bingo Caller’. And this year’s winner could be an as-yet-undiscovered talent. Could that be you?!?
The competition is back for a third year. And has proven to be a fun way to search for new callers who the team might not otherwise come across. So, if you’ve got the gift of the gab and reckon you can hold a room full of bingo enthusiasts enthralled with your own unique bingo calling style, then get yourself in front of your camera phone and strut your stuff.
Entrants are asked to submit a showreel as part of their application. If you don’t have a showreel, you can record a short, 1-minute video introducing yourself and calling out some bingo lingo to the camera. It doesn’t have to be professionally filmed – the team behind the competition just want to see what you can do!
The prize for being the next top bingo caller is pretty epic, £1000 top Prize courtesy of Sponsors; Malibu, a 12-month contract with Dabbers Social Bingo and if that wasn’t enough there is also a Luxury hotel stay. Applications are now open and they close on 17th March 2023
This year’s competition which will be held via a series of heats at Dabber’s HQ in Houndsditch EC3 (4 min walk from Aldgate Tube), beginning in March and culminating with a grand final in July.
Knockouts will then happen in March/April and will see 20 contestants compete 5 per knockout with 2 from each knockout progressing to the semi-finals.
The semi-finals will be held over 2 weekends in May and will see 8 battle it out with 2 contestants making it to the finals which will be held in July.
Each heat will be hosted by BBC New Comedy Award finalist Sikisa Bostwick and Edinburgh Festival favourite, with a judging panel, made up of agents, festival bookers and journalists, so who knows, this could be the first step in your bid for stardom.
Last year’s winner was Crudi Dench (Matt Stallworthy, comedian and drag performer). Of her 2022 victory, Crudi says: “Winning Dabbers Next Top Bingo Caller has allowed me to explore a whole new passion of bingo calling, put my hosting skills to the ultimate test, interact with brilliant audiences, connect with other fabulous performers and £1000 towards my wig budget.”
Entries should be submitted via the dabbers.bingo website, before midnight on 17th March 2023. All entrants must be aged over 21.
