Some great news was revealed recently in the K-pop world. If you haven’t heard, Blackpink’s latest dance track “Playing With Fire” is the the group’s first song to get on the Canadian Hot 100 charts. Not only was it their first, but it was the first time any K-pop girl group made it onto the charts!
The South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment, consisting of Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo and Rosé, managed to reach No. 92 on the Canadian Hot 100 chart dated on November 26th.
According to Billboard, female star CL, online sensation PSY (“Gangnam style”), and boy band BTS are just a few of the only other K-pop acts to make it onto the Canadian Hot 100 chart.
Blackpink has already gone viral in Korea with their hip hop/pop/r&b/k-pop sound, but these girls are clearly starting to go viral around the world too.
