On Monday, April 16th (April 17th, 12AM KST), the BTS official Twitter announced in the BTS fan cafe the release date of their new album, LOVE YOURSELF: ‘Tear’. The album will be released on May 18th, 2018 and is set to include 15 tracks. This announcement follows their release of their storyline video, “Euphoria: Theme of LOVE YOURSELF: ‘Wonder’ ” which you can watch below:

The comeback announcement in the fan cafe also provides information about presale for the album, stating that preorders are due to start on April 18th, 2018 KST. While no other information has been provided, it has been announced that the album will be available to pre-order through the official Amazon link. More details about the album will be announced later on.

The release of LOVE YOURSELF: ‘Tear’ will come right before the Billboard Music Awards, which is set to take place on May 20, 2018. This close release date suggests BTS will be promoting their new album in the U.S. at the award show. While BTS will be nominated for the Top Social Artist award, as they have kept their spot at #1 since their win last year at the awards, there has yet to be an announcement as to whether the seven-member group will be performing – though many suspect that they will.

One of the goals BTS announced earlier in the year was to perform at the Billboard Music Awards, and the release of LOVE YOURSELF: ‘Tear’ would give them the opportunity to promote their work by performing a new song off the album. Announcements pertaining to the Billboard Music Awards will start on April 17th, 2018.
