BTS has yet again proved they are the standard as their latest smash hit single ‘Butter’ surpassed 100 million streams in just 8 days.
Butter has already broken streaming records across Spotify and YouTube, setting new 24 hour goals across the board and it shows no signs of stopping being a dominant song right now. The global superstars had already snatched the biggest debut for a song in Spotify’s history, with 20.9 million streams on Friday 21st alone.
The South Korean global icons broke the record for the fastest song to surpass 100 million streams, beating out viral hit Drivers License by Olivia Rodrigo. While Olivia hit 100m on her eighth day of release, Butter hit 110 million unfiltered streams on day eight. BTS has always been poised as a force to be reckoned with in terms of sales, but Butter has continuously proved itself as a strong pillar in terms of streams thus far.
This feat is monumental not only for BTS, but music as a whole. BTS are pulling numbers that seem incomprehensible for any artist, never mind a group that comes from a non-English speaking country. Yes, Butter is a full English song, but foreign artists release English songs all the time, but BTS keeps proving their global superstardom with each release.
Dynamite was a huge cultural moment that opened so many doors for BTS, blowing them up to levels that even the biggest of ARMYs could have never imagined, and Butter appears to be breaking down even more barriers for the septet.
