BTS have certainly had an incredible record-breaking seven days, and they now have another record in their bags as they are officially the first Korean act to chart at Number One on the UK Official Album Chart.
‘Map of the Soul: Persona’ has debuted at Number One on the UK charts today and has sold 26,500 combined units this week. Their latest release marks their biggest UK sales week ever, and selling more than their previous Top 20 albums combined. The hype doesn’t end there as they also have officially made their Top 15 debut on the Single charts as Boy With Luv (featuring Halsey) reached Number 13 also.
The cinematic music video also broke three Guinness world records with ‘Boy With Luv’ as the video garnered a phenomenal 74.6 million views within the first 24 hours. The astonishing number made the video the ‘most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours,” “most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours,” and “most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-pop group.”
As well as these incredible achievements, BTS made history as the first South Korean group to appear on SNL, a momentous occasion not only for the group but the Asian community getting representation on one of the biggest US TV shows.
This past week has been arguable the biggest for BTS’ career and they are hot on their way to topping the Billboard 200 for the third time and may also get their first Top 5 hit on the Hot 100 chart.
2019 is looking to once again be the most incredible year for BTS after putting their blood, sweat and tears into their latest comeback and we cannot wait to see what the rest of the year brings for these seven boys.
