After their historic performance on Saturday Night Live, BTS returned to Korea to promote their new single, “Boy With Luv,” from their album, Map of the Soul: Persona. On Friday, April 19th, the guys appeared on Music Bank to perform “Boy With Luv” as well as “Dionysus.” As all Korean music programs go, in the end, a winner is chosen for having the top song, determined by the number of points each song gets for that week.
It came down to BTS and Bol4, but ultimately, BTS took racked up the most votes (11,231 points) for “Boy With Luv.” It was the group’s first win for their single. Watch them accept the award below.
We really aren’t surprised that they won, as the guys’ music video for “Boy With Luv” also had the biggest YouTube debut of all-time, accumulating 74.6 million within 24 hours of being released. The music video reached 8 million likes within three days, becoming BTS’ fourth music video to do so. “Boy With Luv” has also been getting impressive radio airplay from stations across the world and has also been added to several Spotify playlists, including Today’s Top Hits, K-Pop Daebak, and United States Top 50.
BTS’ album for Map of the Soul: Persona has also just reached No.1 on the UK Official Albums Chart. It is BTS’ first No.1 in the UK. They are also the first Korean act to achieve this overall.
This era of BTS’ career has been a big one and we still have a long way to go! The group will perform their new single with Halsey at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards on May 1st and then perform across various cities in North America as part of their Love Yourself: Speak Yourself world tour.
