Multi-Emmy and Golden Globe winning actress Sharon Gless has today confirmed she’s gearing up to swap Hollywood for Holby by returning to the cast of Casualty and possibly on a more permanent basis.
Sharon made several appearances in the BBC1 medical drama in a special guest role throughout 2017 as Zsa Zsa Harper-Jenkinson, a maestro of surgery and former mentor to Dylan Keogh, played by William Beck.
Earlier today, the star visited Pembrokeshire, West Wales, where she spoke about the announcement alongside fellow cast member Jaye Griffiths who plays Elle Gardner and producer Dafydd Llewelyn.
Speaking to Radio Pembrokeshire in her first interview since the confirmation, the star said: “It was so successful last year apparently that they brought me and the character back for more trouble.”
Adding: “Dr Dylan Keogh has been acting up and she’s back!”
However, it hasn’t all been plain sailing for the star who revealed she’s struggled to cope with the medical terminology, admitting during the show last year crew had to tape several phrases across the set, in order for her to remember her lines.
Revealing more about the forthcoming storyline, Gless said she’ll be carrying out more surgery in “bizarre circumstances” and that they are “taking things nice and slow”.
The news follows a post by The BBC who confirmed her return in a post on Twitter this week.
Tweeting in response to the news, fans have been quick to show their delight at the announcement:
Jayne ended the Interview by saying “Sharon Gless has no idea how beautiful she is, what a power she is, she walks on set and everybody turns, and we are so lucky to have her back, and so lucky she said yes again, yhank you very much Sharon, Yes!!”
Casualty airs on BBC One Saturdays at 8:20pm
