Go crazy, crazy! DNCE refer to themselves as “your new favorite band,” and they do not appear to be wrong. The newly formed group was just awarded by having their first single “Cake By The Ocean” certified as gold! This means that the band’s very first single has already sold 500,000 copies in less than five months.
DNCE is an American pop-rock group that formed in September of 2015. The charismatic frontman is no other than Joe Jonas, who had previous success as part of the Jonas Brothers and as a solo artist. He decided in late 2015 that he would like to continue on with a new band. This announcement was a huge surprise, but was very well-recieved. Jonas united with Jack Lawless (drums), JinJoo Lee (guitar) and Cole Whittle (bass) to form this new group. Not only does the band have an incredibly unique look, but a fantastic sound that pushes the boundaries of pop.
With “Cake By The Ocean” being released on September 18, 2015, the group quickly captured the public’s attention. The song has gone viral and is now one of the most requested songs on the radio. As a brand new band, DNCE is reaching peaks of success that some bands can only dream of. However, it is no surprise — the song has a hypnotizing guitar riff and catchy beat that leaves us wanting more!
The band has since released an EP on Republic Records entitled SWAAY, which is available now for purchase on iTunes. Four tracks including “Cake By The Ocean” are a great way to hold us over while we anxiously await DNCE’s debut album. The first full-length CD is expected to come from the band later this year.
