Calvin Harris has teamed up with Sam Smith for the first time to release an infectious new collaboration called ‘Promises’.
Written by Calvin, Sam, and Jessie Reyez, ‘Promises’ is the perfect end of summer bop, which sees Sam living for the moment. “I make no promises / I can’t do golden rings / but I’ll give you everything (tonight)” he sings over Calvin’s shimmery production.
Whilst Sam is best known for his powerhouse ballads, he has ventured into dance music in the past after working with Disclosure. Calvin also has a great reputation for working with the world’s biggest artists, having collaborated with the likes of Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Ellie Goulding, Katy Perry, and Pharrell Williams.
‘Promises’ is the collaboration that we didn’t know we needed, but we’re definitely here for it as Calvin and Sam make the perfect dream team.

‘No Promises’ is Calvin’s third release of 2018, following on from ‘Nuh Ready Nuh Ready’ with PARTYNEXTDOOR, and the gargantuan global hit ‘One Kiss’ featuring Dua Lipa.
Having already notched up nine UK number one singles, Calvin will be hoping to achieve his tenth with ‘Promises’. At present, he ties with Jess Glynne and Tinie Tempah for the most number one hits this decade. All three artists have scored seven number ones since 2010. If ‘Promises’ reaches the top, it will also become Sam’s seventh number one hit.
