Camila Cabello has been awarded the ‘Voice Award’ at Save The Children’s ‘The Centennial Gala: Changing The World For The Children’.
The celebration was held in New York on Thursday night, with Save The Children CEO Carolyn Miles presenting the award to Camila. As an ambassador for the charity, Camila received the award for her continued effort to be a leader in shaping the future of philanthropy by speaking up in behalf of the world’s most vulnerable children.
Whilst accepting her award, Camila recalled her visit to Save The Children’s programs in Puerto Rico in 2018. She said: “I didn’t know what to expect. I saw and read the news reports about the challenges and difficulties these families were facing. I was there a year after Hurricane Maria struck and I could still see its effects everywhere. What I saw when I met the teachers at the daycare and at the school left me speechless.”
“Despite everything these families went through, they remained strong and hopeful. Their number one priority was making sure their kids were safe, healthy and back in school as soon as possible. Save the Children was there for them.”
During her speech, Camila also pledged to raise $250,000 for Save The Children. The money will help towards funding its programs for refuges of conflict, children in poverty, children’s health and education programs, and programs supporting gender equality.
In addition to her continuous philanthropic work, Camila recently unveiled the first two new releases taken from her forthcoming Romance project. ‘Shameless’ and ‘Liar’ showcase different sides to the songstress and have both been given the music video treatment.
