When Camila Cabello announced the launch of her second album Romance last week, fans didn’t have to wait long for a taste of the sound it will bring. The songstress released Shameless and Liar a few days later and kicked off her new era in style.
The tracks work in collaboration with each other with Shameless flaunting heavy vocal focus throughout the verses before the powerful chorus steals the show resulting in a dancefloor worthy track. Having explained that the album’s lyrics will draw inspiration from her own life experience, lines such as “My emotions are naked, they’re taking me out of my mind” gives an insight into a time of being in love and not caring who sees or knows about it. A video for Shameless has also been released which can be seen below.
Showing the other side of the singer’s ability is Liar, indicating that Camila isn’t going to be sticking to one style across Romance. Liar has an Latin inspired sound, getting beneath your skin making it near impossible to not lose yourself within the rhythm. Having revealed this works in conjunction with Shameless, she sings of when you finally give in to your temptations and fears about letting go and falling in love. The tracks are two very different yet brilliant indications of what’s to come from Camila Cabello. When speaking about her new album Camila explained “These songs are basically the story of my life the past couple years and the stories I’ve accumulated. I knew for a long time I wanted my album to be called Romance because these stories are about falling in love.“.
The singles follow the release of an intriguing visual entitled ‘What Do I Know About Love?‘ which saw Camila explore her thoughts and feelings surrounding love. You can find out more about the visual here.
