Cassandra Clare, the author of the best selling book series ‘The Mortal Instruments’, has penned a new trilogy centred around Magnus Bane, a fan favourite from the original book series.
The series will see Clare branch away from her young adult genre, with the series being advertised as an adult book series. The trilogy will also be co written by Wesley Chu, author of ‘The Lives of Tao’ and is scheduled for release in November 2017.
Since the ‘Shadowhunters’ TV show aired on FreeForm, Magnus Bane (portrayed by Harry Shum Jr of ‘Glee’ fame) quickly became a fan favourite and this may have inspired Clare’s decision to release yet another spin-off with him as the main attraction.
In a quick Twitter Q&A, Clare answered a few burning questions that fans flocked to ask as soon as the news of the series broke. Magnus’ main love interest, Alec Lightwood, was mentioned multiple times, with fans of the ship desperate to know if further details into their relationship will be explored.
The Magnus books won't delay anything else, like TLH, no worries. And don't worry… There will be so very much Malec. :) @wes_chu

Q: What's the title of the first book?
A: It … is… a secret! Sorry. You'll have to wait to find out. :D@wes_chu#magnusbane— Cassandra Clare (@cassieclare) May 26, 2016
When speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Clare said:
“Over the years writing the Shadowhunter books, Magnus Bane has emerged as one of the most fun and fascinating characters for me to bring to life,” Clare says in a release. “He’s always had a lot of secrets — there are so many things we don’t know about Magnus, from the story of his first love to the secrets of his parentage, to the beginning of his relationship with Alec. All those are things I was able to touch on in The Bane Chronicles, but I’m excited to dig in even more deeply in these three volumes devoted to Magnus, his past, his future, and his present.”
The Magnus Bane books will join the Shadowhunter chronicles along with several other books scheduled for a 2017 release. At this rate, we can expect new Shadowhunters books for many years to come and we couldn’t be more excited!
