The 2016 Olympics may be over and the teams have all returned home from Rio, but the legends of this year’s games won’t soon be forgotten. One of those legends goes by the name Nathan Adrian, a US Swimmer who took both gold and bronze in Rio and helped make history for the men’s swim team.
Nathan is a 27-year-old who made his Olympic debut in 2008 and has medaled in Beijing, Londo, and Rio in addition to taking home several wins in the World Championships, he absolutely cannot be stopped. None of this comes as a surprise when you look at how long Nathan has been near the water. His older siblings were also swimmers and because of their influence, Nathan began swimming at age 5, he’s grown up with the sport.
While it would be easy to say Nathan was a sure thing during the 2016 games, he’s too humble to have said it himself and that’s just one part of his personality that makes him so easy to like. He’s incredibly talented but he works hard for his titles and he’s just as proud of the medals he has with his team as the ones he earned on his own.
We got to talk to Nathan about the Olympics, Team USA, and how it felt helping Michael Phelps achieve one more gold before the champion retired.
Nathan is still early in his competitive career and we can only expect more brilliance out of him in the future. To keep up with him and learn more about his journey to gold, check out his website; it’s got photos, videos, and a ton of history on the Olympic Champ. He’s also very active on social media, and you can follow him on Twitter to see what he’s up to when he’s not training.
