Here at CelebMix, we love nothing more than introducing our readers to new, up and coming talent within the music industry. In this particular article, we introduce you to Kitt Philippa, a multi-instrumentalist and song-writer.
Following on from the release of their debut singles ‘Human’ and ‘Grace,’ they have now unveiled their new single and EP release, both titled ‘You.’ The musician’s talent led to their winning the prestigious Northern Irish Music Prize for ‘Single of the Year’ in 2018.
With regards to the release of their new EP, Kitt Philippa took to their official Instagram account to explain the personal meaning behind each track – ‘Human,’ ‘Grace,’ ‘You’ and ‘Lion.’

When speaking about the new single ‘You,’ Kitt Phillipa explains:
“‘You is a combination of thoughts, but its output is a love that is not obviously tangible. Love can seem distant, but still be present. It can almost be imaginary, or like a memory. It was from that context ‘You’ was written. Some of the lyrics circulate around the idea of space, alluding at times to a perceived ’emptiness,’ but love flows between and through us and leaves its trail.”
The remaining tracks on the EP each have a poignant meaning and showcases their talent. ‘Human’ is a truly emotive plea, a call for humans to be close and kind, rediscovering this feeling that comes from within us, while ‘Grace’ is a reflection on a love that was innocent and true and ‘Lion’ is a track about courage and seeking renewal.
Despite growing up in a somewhat largely classical music environment, Kitt Philippa’s influences have been broad. Their song-writing and performances generally reflect a craft that is steeped in both contemporary urban and digital soundscapes.
Further, Kitt Philippa has performed alongside The Ulster Orchestra, featured on many different popular playlists, including RTE 2FM and has performed in cities including Berlin, London, Dublin and Belfast.
With a host of upcoming live dates in Ireland in the coming months, Kitt Philippa is definitely a fresh talent within Ireland and we can’t wait to hear even more for them!
