Singers Lorde and Madonna took to their Facebook pages to write long posts about the legend, not allowing a short tweet to do him justice. Lorde recounted the story of their first meeting and Madonna talked about how Bowie changed her outlook.
The two living Beatles members, Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney, also took to Facebook sharing photos of them with the late David Bowie.
David Cameron, the British Prime Minister, shared his tribute as a Facebook post as well.
