After teasing the song on social media last week, Clean Bandit and Demi Lovato have unveiled their highly anticipated collaboration, ‘Solo’.
The self love anthem is an upbeat bop which deals with going solo after experiencing heartbreak. Armed with a catchy chorus and summery vibes, we guarantee that you’ll be singing along after just one listen.
I wanna f-woop woop woop, but I’m broken hearted
Cr-cr-cry since the day we parted
T-t-touch but I got nobody
So I do it solo
Speaking about the track in a press release, Clean Bandit’s Grace Chatto said: “Breaking apart from someone you love very much can be unbearably painful, but finding yourself again can be a beautiful thing if you do your solitude right. Self-care is like an art in itself and we tried to look at this in a fun way.”
Grace also spoke to Metro about how technology had an impact on the recording of the song. “The first time we met Demi was over FaceTime, believe it or not! She was recording in Alabama and we were recording in London and we recorded the song like this – over the ocean!” she said. “When we finally met in person to shoot the music video, it was beautiful. She was so lovely and it was a joy to film her.”
Take a listen to ‘Solo’ below.
‘Solo’ is definitely a contender for song of the summer and has the ability to be another smash hit for both Clean Bandit and Demi in the UK and across the globe.
The classical-electro trio are no strangers to enjoying huge success in the UK, with a string of number one singles under their belt including ‘Rockabye’ and ‘Solo’. Up until now, Demi’s highest UK chart position is number three, however, we’re quietly confident that she could go all the way to the top with ‘Solo’.
In addition to releasing ‘Solo’ this week, Demi also blessed us with the sensational Christina Aguilera collaboration, ‘Fall In Line’. The vocal powerhouses will perform the song this Sunday at the Billboard Music Awards.
