Get ready to loosen up and do it Bajan Style, as Cover Drive are BACK with a new single called ‘Grapefruit Perrier’!
It’s been a while since Cover Drive, made up of Amanda Reifer, T-Ray Armstrong, Jamar Harding and Barry “Barman” Hill, last graced our ears with new music, but ‘Grapefruit Perrier’ sees the welcome return of this Bajan quartet.
‘Grapefruit Perrier’ and its lyric video was premiered on Maximum Pop earlier today. The band shared that the song “is the story of our journey as independent artists. The struggle has been real but empowering, it is all about allowing yourself to grow through adversity.”
The reggae vibes and No Doubt influence are clear to hear in the song, making it the perfect first single from their second album, which is due for release in the spring. Their last album, Bajan Style, featured hit singles ‘Lick Ya Down’, ‘Twilight’, and ‘Sparks’. It was an extremely underrated album, with amazing songs from start to finish – we’re so excited to see what the band bring to their second album!
Cover Drive have spent the past two years working religiously on their music, hitting the studio alongside the likes of Boi-1Da (Drake, Tinashe), Angela Hunte (Alicia Keys, Britney Spears) and Will IDAP (Jessie J, Nico & Vinz). They have also completed a 100 date US college tour, which is phenomenal by anyone’s standards!
Being independent artists, the band are fully involved with all aspects of their music and its production. Not only is the song self-penned, but Amanda created the single artwork, Jamar made the lyric video and the production was by Dreadhawk, a.k.a T-Ray and Barry!
In true Cover Drive style, ‘Grapefruit Perrier’ is a really catchy jam, and we have high hopes for the single when it is officially released on Friday. Welcome back guys, it’s great to have Cover Drive in the building once again.
