We all know her for coming second at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, Dami Im totally should’ve won that year, where she sang “Sound Of Silence”, representing Australia. Instead, Jamala, from Ukraine, won with “1944”. Now she’s got another awesome release in anticipation of her brand new album.
“Autumn Leaves” is a cover track, amongst 11 others, that will appear alongside two originals on her fifth studio album “I Hear A Song”. The album follows up previous LP “Classic Carpenters” which was an ode to the American duo The Carpenters. It’s clear that she loves singing cover songs and not only making them her own but owning the tracks and renewing them for a whole new audience.
Dami Im made her name in Australia where she won the fifth series of their version of The X Factor with Danni Minogue as her mentor. She then went on to represent Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 as their second entrant, following Guy Sebastian in 2015. She performed “Sound Of Silence”, coming second with 511 points. Now, she’s gearing up to release her fifth studio album, titled “I Hear A Song”; it will be released on 23 March 2018.

“Autumn Leaves” is originally a 1945 French song titled “Les Feuilles mortes” which means “The Dead Leaves” in English; composed by Joseph Kosma. It has been covered by an array of artists in the following years including Grace Jones, Eva Cassidy, Jerry Lee Lewis, Frank Sinatra, Andrea Bocelli, Iggy Pop, and Eric Clapton. To go down in history amongst these greats, just shows how amazing Dami Im is, and her voice is perfection on this track in every way.
