It’s not long now until Dami Im releases her brand new album “I Hear A Song”. This LP is her fifth overall, and we really cannot wait. This week saw her release her second promotional single from the album, which is a cover of “Feeling Good”, made popular by Nina Simone.
This is such an iconic song, so many people have covered it, from Muse to Michael Bublé, from The Pussycat Dolls to George Michael, from Adam Lambert to Jennifer Hudson; this song is something we’ve all heard time and time again. With so many people having recorded or covered it on talent shows – Carly Rose Sonenclar from The X Factor (US) season two, always comes to mind – it’s difficult to make it new and different; yet, Dami Im has done just that whilst also keeping it original.
The song was originally written by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse. The many versions have charted all over the world. It is the first song on Dami Im’s brand new album, “I Hear A Song”, and what a way to open her album. The song is the second promo single, following up cover song “Autumn Leaves“.

Classy and controlled throughout, Dami Im shows off her ability to take an iconic song and make it her own, in her version of “Feeling Good”. She’s refreshed it whilst keeping it similar to the original. She hasn’t overdone it on the vocals, managing to deliver a brilliant cover of this amazing song. We can’t help but look forward to the release of her album – which is set to drop on 23 March 2018.
As for where you may recognise Dami Im from; well, she won the fifth season of Australia’s version of The X Factor. She followed that up by representing that country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song “Sound of Silence” where she came second with 511 points – currently Australia’s highest position to date.
