Taking it back to the ’70s with a folk-rock nostalgic sound, Denim Dan showcases their longevity in the music industry with the release of their sixth studio album, titled “This Way, That Way, The Other Way”. This album release acts as the follow-up to their fifth studio album, titled “Denim Dan Meets Dylan … A Tribute”.
Denim Dan, a Boulder-based band established in 1996, has been deeply influenced by a diverse range of musical icons. From the frontman’s uncle Bernard Cohen, who was acquainted with the renowned classical guitarist Andrés Segovia, to the folk and blues artist Tom Rush, who catalysed the rise of singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchell and James Taylor, the frontman’s musical journey has been shaped by a tapestry of inspiration. Building upon these foundations, Denim Dan released their debut album, “Your Foreign Town”, in 1999 through Orchard Records, a subsidiary of Sony Music. They continue to carve out their own unique path, fusing elements of folk, rock, and soul to create a captivating sonic experience that resonates with audiences worldwide.
Talking about this album, Denim Dan’s frontman said: “‘This Way, That Way, The Other Way’ is our sixth studio album. A non-fiction coming-of-age narration of loosely factual true events from my time in New Mexico in the mid 1970s. The title track and first four songs were written in Florence, Italy during the pandemic when I felt inspired to write about my experiences of four decades earlier. The next eight songs – also written about that period – including ‘Let Your Love Fall Down On Me (Too)’ were recorded in 2001 right after 911 in Boulder, Colorado. They were forgotten…but my son, Marcello, found them in an old computer.”
