This wasn’t the only video released to announce the date of the new film. Another video was later released where all four stars are joined by newcomer China Anne McClain, who will play Uma – the daughter of Ursula – and director Kenny Ortega, to reveal the five networks that will be premiering the film.
The stars may be out of their costumes, but Dove Cameron has clearly stolen some wicked magic from Mal. She uses a wand to reveal the five networks on the screen behind her, before ending the visual with a blinding white light. Maybe magic is real after all.

Descendants 2 is one of the most anticipated Disney Channel sequels since High School Musical 2. Funnily enough, the High School Musical franchise was also directed by Kenny Ortega.
The film will see Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay return to the Isle of the Lost, where they will come across Uma and her friends, who have taken over Mal’s place as ruler of the Island.
It’s all top secret for now, but what we can tell from the teasing videos, the behind-the-scenes videos and the promotional posters, is that we are to expect some sword fights, some amazing new music, amazing new choreographed dance scenes, and King Ben dressed as a villain kid. As Dove Cameron said in a promotional video: “This one is going to blow the first one out of the water.”
