The ET Boys made their mark with their 2022 debut single/music video, “Sober,” three minutes of nu-pop perfection. Since then, the duo has dropped a series of creative singles, along with their debut album, Forever Night, via Wake Up! Music.

Based in South Florida, The ET Boys is made up of two Latino brothers, Tac Boy and Sharkeyes. Sharkeyes writes the music, while the poet laureate Tac Boy handles lyrics and vocals. Combining their talents, the pair confirm Aristotle’s dictum, “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.”

In the ET Boys’ musical world, nothing is off-limits. Billed as a nu-pop, melodic rap duo, their sound isn’t so easily characterized. Merging elements of dream-pop, synth-pop, emo, conscious rap, alt-rock, R&B, and even country, the brothers create a sound that’s oh-so charismatic, no matter which direction it goes. And the icing on the sonic cake is Tac Boy’s luxurious, dripping-like candle wax, sexy voice, almost pornographic in its sensual appeal.

“Coca Boys” rolls out on industrial-like synths flowing into a potent rhythm topped by nu-pop-flavored harmonics with hints of retro-laced power pop and hip-hop. Initially low and sultry, Tac Boy’s vocals elevate to delicious timbres of amazement, imbuing the lyrics with incredulity, followed by thrilling acquiescence.

“2 letters both ET no feelings from the south / u diss me i’m sorry sharkeyes put u in the ground / the xanax the molly these girls are really on / i’m hunting safari for who can be the one.”

Whereas “Drift Banger” offers dark, trembling suffusions of trap and emo as Tac Boy raps out the lyrics, narrating a night out, hitting the clubs, and hooking up. His flow starts out monotone but soon takes on evocative intensity, expressing his stream-of-consciousness with a portentous effect.

“all black fit ooh shinigami / she my misa i’m yagami / i can drive just let me pop it / man i think i feel unconscious.”

The magic of the ET Boys revolves around the full-sized primal moods of their music and their lyrics, evoking electrifying allure.
