Dua Lipa has unveiled the music video for her sassy break up song ‘New Rules’, and it’s quite possibly her best video yet!
Directed by Henry Schofield, the video sees Dua enlist the help of her girl gang to get over a break up. Whilst she is keen to give her ex another chance, her squad reel off three important rules which convince her to leave the past in the past.
“One, don’t pick up the phone / You know he’s only calling ’cause he’s drunk and alone / Two, don’t let him in / You have to kick him out again / Three, don’t be his friend / You know you’re gonna wake up in his bed in the morning / And if you’re under him / You ain’t getting over him”
As the video develops, the squad make their way to the pool area and we see Dua find her inner strength. She is so over her ex at this point, that she can even walk on water! In turn, she also gives one of her gal pals the same advice, proving that nothing is stronger than these girls’ bond.
The visual features a lot of slick synchronised choreography, which is reminiscent of some of the moves featured in Dua’s dreamy visual for ‘Lost In Your Light’, which was also directed by Henry. Shot in Miami, ‘New Rules’ has been given an effortlessly chic video which showcases a diverse group of women highlighting girl power and female solidarity at its best.

‘New Rules’ is taken from Dua Lipa’s self-titled debut album, which charted at number five in the official UK album chart earlier this year. The track is the seventh song to be released from the album after proving to be a huge fan favourite. Here at CelebMix, we’re delighted that Dua has decided to give this anthem a visual – it’s definitely our favourite of hers so far!
If you fancy hearing Dua’s album in all its glory live, then she will be touring the UK and Europe later this year. The Self-Titled tour kicks off in Brighton on October 5. Dua will also be supporting Bruno Mars on selected dates of his 24K Magic World Tour. She will be appearing at various North American dates this year, in addition to the Australia and New Zealand leg which takes place in 2018.
