Dua Lipa is back with her first new release of 2019. The singer has just dropped her new track ‘Swan Song’, taken from the soundtrack to the forthcoming movie Alita: Battle Angel.
Co-written by Dua along with Justin Tranter, Kennedi Lykken, Mattias Larsson, Robin Fredriksson, and Tom Holkenborg, ‘Swan Song’ is an rousing anthem which will leave you feeling like you can take on the world.
In addition to the track, Dua has also unveiled the accompanying visual for ‘Swan Song’. Directed by Floria Sigismondi, the visual sees Dua navigate around a post-apocalyptic world. The songstress later strengthens her fighting skills as she practices martial arts moves in a mirror, supported by a reflection of the film’s protagonist, Alita.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the visual, Floria said: “While in the film Alita is quite literally on a journey to discover who she is, her story serves as a really powerful allegory for any girl who doesn’t yet know her own power.
“I wanted to play with that same profound notion by dropping Dua into a facet of Alita’s world and allowing Alita to serve as a surrogate that leads her on a journey to discover she’s stronger than she ever could have imagined.”

Yesterday, it was confirmed that Dua, along with Sam Smith and Rag’n’Bone Man, will be joining Calvin Harris for a very special performance at this year’s BRIT Awards. ‘One Kiss’, her collaboration with Calvin, is nominated for British Single and British Artist Video of the Year. She has also received nominations in both categories for her single ‘IDGAF’.
‘Swan Song’ is out now. Alita: Battle Angel is due for release on February 14.
