It was just last year when Eddie Redmayne hit our screens big time, in his oscar winning transformation into Stephen Hawking for The Theory Of Everything. Some wondered if this was all we would see from Redmayne, but gosh they were wrong!
Eddie Redmayne will be back on our screens, in the new year for the UK (Nov 27th for our readers in the USA), in ‘The Danish Girl’. Redmayne will star as a transgender artist, Lili Elbe, in the film adaption of David Ebershoff’s novel. Both the film and novel follow the real life story of Lili Elbe, who was one of the first identifiable recipients of gender reassignment surgery.
The film, and novel, follows Gerda Wegener and her husband, Einer Wegener, who stands in for a female model in many of his wives portraits. Einer soon realises that he is much more comfortable as a female and makes the decision to start living his life as Lili Elbe. The story follows Lili Elbe on her journey and her relationship with Gerda Wegener.
I can see that this film, like The Theory Of Everything, is going to be a huge success when it finally hits the big screens. What do you think; is there another oscar on the way for Redmayne?
