Vocal powerhouse Ella Henderson is back with her first solo single of 2020, the irresistible ‘Take Care Of You’.
Co-written with pop’s most sought after songwriting duo Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter, ‘Take Care Of You’ also sees Ella reunite with Noel Zancanella, who produced and co-wrote her debut single ‘Ghost’, whilst it also features co-production courtesy of rising dance producers, Daniel Blume and Joris Mur.
‘Take Care Of You’ is a breezy, feel good anthem which sees Ella pledge to take care of and love someone through difficult times. The relatable track can also be applied to ourselves, especially during such an unprecedented time, as it reminds us to take care of our physical and mental wellbeing.
Speaking about the track in a press release, Ella said: “When I wrote ‘Take Care of You’ I couldn’t put into words how I was feeling, but alongside two of my favourite writers in the world, Julia and Justin, they helped me turn my thoughts into song. This song is for everyone I love, as well as a message of self-care – a personal reminder to look after myself, both mentally and physically.”
The track also comes with an accompanying music video which was shot using iPhones and drones. Directed by Rauri Cantelo, the video has a cute nostalgic and retro vibe, and sees Ella on her computer as she reminisces over some of her favourite memories with her friends and family.

‘Take Care Of You’ is the first track to be taken from Ella’s new EP which is due for release later this summer. The track follows on from a string of recent collaborations including ‘We Got Love’ with Sigala, ‘Hold Me Close’ with Sam Feldt, and the top 10 single ‘This Is Real’ with Jax Jones. It is also her first solo release, following on from her 2019 comeback EP Glorious.
During the current isolation period due to the global pandemic, Ella has been using her voice and platform to support causes close to her heart. She took part in the Mayor of London’s #LondonTogether video which focussed on mental health during lockdown, whilst she also did a live at-home performance for Billboard in aid of Direct Relief. She was also a special guest on Gary Barlow’s The Crooner Sessions series, performing ‘Rule The World’.
