She’s back with a brand new album and what a wait it has been. The drag queen with the beard who went on to steal the show, the award, and the crown at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with the amazing ballad “Rise Like A Phoenix”, Conchita Wurst is ready to release a whole new album. This is her official second studio album, following “Conchita”. It is a collaborative LP with Wiener Symphoniker, which is known in English as the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

We’ve been waiting for new music ever since she returned as a guest at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. She’s been experimenting down various routes and has certainly been looking for a new sound, and gosh has she found the perfect one. This brand new single with Wiener Symphoniker is the first single taken from the new album that is titled “From Vienna With Love” which was also announced with the release of this song. Conchita Wurst’s real name is Thomas Neuwirth, and he originally competed as himself in the third season of Austrian show Starmania where he came second. As for the orchestra, it was found in 1900 by Ferdinand Löwe, and their primary concert venue is the Vienna Konzerthaus. It is currently conducted by Philippe Jordan, and they have released a number of recordings including Beethoven Symphonies, Mozart, and Bach.

This single is a brilliant cover from the musical The Sound Of Music. It does make us wonder if there will be more musicals in this tracklist, which have yet to be revealed. What we do know is that there will be a total of 12 tracks.

Listen To Conchita Wurst & Wiener Symphoniker’s “The Sound Of Music” Here:

Conchita Wurst impresses from the very outset as she shows off her beyond-sweet voice that so works with this song. At times she goes full out reminding us of her Eurovision winning song “Rise Like A Phoenix” but this is much more stripped back, relying on sugary-sweet vocals that just makes this sound amazing. We’ve never heard her sound so rich. As for the symphony behind her voice, Wiener Symphoniker give us a different take on this classic and it really works. We need Conchita Wurst & Wiener Symphoniker to do a world tour because we need to see this live!

“The Sound Of Music” by Conchita Wurst & Wiener Symphoniker is available to download and stream right now via Sony Music Entertainment Austria. The album “From Vienna With Love” is expected to be released on 19 October 2018; it is available to pre-order right now.
