Are you still feeling those post-Vans Warped Tour withdrawals, or looking for a new band to listen to? We’ve got you covered. Atlantic Wasteland has released a new single, “It’s Mid-July, Take Off the Beanie”. It may be mid-February right now, but this track is still a bop.
Atlantic Wasteland has their roots in Pittsburgh, and don’t just stick to one sound. The four-piece combines elements from genres such as emo, pop punk and alternative rock to create a unique sound of their own that sets them apart.
“It’s Mid-July, Take Off the Beanie” is a fresh track that you’ll want to jam to. It packs an infectious energy that’ll put a smile on your face from beginning to end, but with a story behind it.
“Beanie is a bit of a slam track about one of my friend’s exes,” says Sam Quatrini, who plays guitar and sings in the band. “He was…not a nice guy to keep it professional; he did a lot of psychological damage and that’s just not cool to take advantage of someone in that way. I think he’s grown up a lot since then, but I already wrote the song and it’s way too much fun to not release – sorry, my guy!”
The music video has a similar vibe, keeping things light and fun. The band travels up and down streets, having a blast with some serious moves.
As for the video, the song itself just makes me wanna dance, so it felt right to have some awesome choreography in there. We try not to take ourselves too seriously and I think that was pretty clear throughout the video – it was a ton of fun to make and we’re ecstatic with how it turned out.
