Eliza Spear is an intriguing, fast rising talent whose latest single ‘Hear My Call’ is a sweet Americana track with a country-pop twang, bringing together a mix of early Martina Mcbride and Lucina Williams vibes.
Hear we talk exclusively to Eliza Spear to discuss her brand new release:
How excited are you to be sharing your new single?
I’m super excited. ‘Hear My Call’ is one of my favorite songs that I’ve written. It’s super powerful and I hope that other people feel the same.
What was the writing process like for the track?
I actually wrote this one pretty quickly. I was working on another song when the chorus of ‘Hear My Call’ just kind of flowed out of me. I let go of the one I had been working on and put all my attention to putting support around the chorus I had just come up with. Then I went to my good friend Rachael Williams to get help perfecting the song and getting it to where I thought it needed it to be.
Can you tell us a little about what inspired the song?
I was in a pretty negative head-space and I wanted someone to talk to. I wrote a song instead of calling someone, which I think turned out to be a good decision.
What are you hoping fans take from the track?
The cool thing about this song is that it was written about feeling alone, yet the song was recorded with vocals from over 30 people, and the video has more than 40 people in it, all singing the same song. I hope that this song conveys that no matter how alone someone may feel, there is always someone that will “hear their call”. Most of us feel similar things, we just need to reach out and talk about it.
How would you describe the songs overall vibe to new listeners?
The song is a power anthem that brings people together through understanding the importance of listening.
Can we expect an EP or LP from you this year?
Yes! An EP is currently in the works.
Do you have any tour plans lined up?
I’m going to LA in a week to perform at the ASCAP Expo, which is amazing and crazy and so many things at once. Official tour plans will probably be happening in 2020.
