As momentum continues to build in the run up to the long awaited release of her fourth studio album next month, song/songwriter Pixie Lott shares her latest single ‘Midnight Trash’.
Available to download / stream now, the insanely catchy, and effortlessly anthemic track sees Pixie open up about her complicated relationship both with anxiety and sleep.
“It’s about breaking up with insomnia,” the ‘Cry Me Out’ singer says of the song she penned with her former collaborator Pete Zizzo (Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez), and co-produced by Thomas Mitchener (The Futureheads, NOAHFINNCE). “At the time I couldn’t sleep with anxiety, my chest was so tight. It sounds like it’s a break-up song but it’s actually positive.”
“The other great thing about ‘Midnight Trash’ is that my son Bertie is playing on the track! He plays the shaker and is credited on the album for that, so I’m a very proud mama! I’m just so happy for it to be released into the world, and I’m super excited that this is my second single from ‘Encino’.”

Serving as the second track to be released from her highly anticipated new album ‘Encino’, ‘Midnight Trash’ arrives hot on the heels of the projects lead single ‘Somebody’s Daughter’ – a fiery, and impassioned pop / rock bop that saw Pixie turn her pen towards toxic online behaviour and bullying.
Named as ‘Record of the Week’ on BBC Radio 2, the impassioned track stayed on the stations A-List for an impressive 5 weeks, and to date has amassed over 104,700 streams on Spotify alone.
Packed full of autobiographical songs that tell tales of “romance, family and nostalgia”, the 13-track collection, which first started life as a passion project, promises to be The Voice Kids coach most personal, and experimental record to date.
Having co-written every song, pouring her heart into every lyric, and soul into every melody, fans are guaranteed to see a whole new side of their favourite singer, as she leans on influences such as Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell, Joe Cocker and Paul Simon, and delves deeper than ever before to share what life has really been like this past decade.
Speaking of the album, Pixie says: “I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since my last album, but I’m so excited to be back doing what I love the most. I’m taking risks this time. Previously, I’ve gone in the direction others have envisioned for me but nobody really ever pushed me to try the things I wanted. It’s scary but I’m going with my heart now – I want to show other sides of myself. I’ve always wanted to do something with a timeless, classic sound that could be played at any point in time.”
