Recently, Danny Dearden has been on form with three brilliant new singles released in the space of three months, his feature on David Hopperman’s “Not Giving Up On You”, his collaboration with Erlandsson on the song “Different Kind Of Love”, and his most recent feature on Mark Villa’s song “I Got U”. We had the chance to interview him just before his latest release.
Danny Dearden is a singer-songwriter, who was a contestant on the 11th series of The X Factor, where he made it to the Judges’ Houses stage. Since then, he has been gigging, writing, and releasing. He has managed to take leaps in his music career, lately, as he managed to feature on Michael Calfan’s track “It’s Wrong“; it is currently his most-streamed single, as it has amassed over 2 million streams on Spotify, with his recent collaboration with Erlandsson “Different Kind Of Love”, his feature on “One Love” by Diviners & ENV and his track “Take On The World” featuring The Holografik coming in second, third, and fourth, respectively. He is currently in the studio writing with NXTGEN and will.i.am, and he has a lot of exciting new music on its way – which we cannot wait for.
We always enjoy speaking to Danny Dearden, this time we interviewed him about his recent track with Erlandsson, “Different Kind Of Love” which is definitely gaining streams as it has almost 300,000 Spotify streams, alone.
Hi, Danny, it’s great to be interviewing you again, we hope you’ve been well. We hear you’ve been busy lately, what have you been up to?
Hi mate. I’m great thanks, hope you are too. Yeah, I’ve been really busy recently. Travelling up and down the country to sessions and gigs and also fitted a cheeky holiday in between.
One of your most recent releases was your collaboration with Erlandsson, titled “Different Kind Of Love”. Can you tell us more about the track?
Yeah, the track was co-written with a friend of mine, Gill Lewis, who is based in London and signed to Tileyard music. I had the initial idea (the chorus part) that I was writing for a boy band but decided to keep it for myself haha.
Gill and I had a writing session and wrote around the chorus idea. I then sent it to Erlandsson and he put his own spin on the track making it what it is today. It’s been a great response over the past few weeks. It now has over 200,000 Spotify streams and is still growing by the day. It’s still crazy to think my music has been listened to that many times.
There is also a lyric video for it on YouTube if anyone wants to check it out.
What can we expect from you next?
I have loads more gigs and sessions coming up and also some more new music. My recent single is with Mark Villa, titled ‘I Got U’, which was released on Friday 26 July. I can’t wait for everyone to hear this one.
We’ve noticed you’ve been working with NXTGEN and Andy Samuels, what have they been like to work with?
Yeah, they are really decent lads. NXTGEN have been working with the likes of will.i.am, Snoop Dogg, and John Legend, so for them to come back from LA and want to work with me and Andy is amazing. Both Andy and NXTGEN are all down to earth but most of all extremely talented lads, it’s a pleasure to be working with them.
Who else have you been working with lately and what are they like?
So recently I’ve been working with a range of other songwriters and artists. I have some music coming out with ELEVNS & Lucan Mills soon too and also some other artists that I can’t mention at the moment, top-secret haha!
You are also set to perform at Morecambe Carnival on 11 August. How excited are you to perform there?
Yeah, I can not wait. I performed there two years ago and it was lit. Great stage, amazing atmosphere and really decent crowd, I can’t wait to be back.
I Can’t wait for this one ??? https://t.co/9Uz1N82HXe

What’s your favourite thing about being on stage?
I’d say a mixture of everything really. Being able to sing your own songs to a crowd and then for them to sing them back is an unreal feeling.
And, finally, what do you hope to achieve in the coming years?
I’m going to continue releasing new music and collabs with other artists and maybe make the charts at some point, that’s the goal!
Thanks for the interview. Speak soon.
Thank you for answering our questions, Danny Dearden, we are totally loving your recent releases and cannot wait to see what the future brings.
As we await even more new music from this rising star, make sure you check out his music on Spotify. We are sure that the future is bright for this male singer-songwriter.
