The Lay Awakes are a super fast rising duo consisting of husband and wife singer/songwriter’s Patrick Anderson and Anna Paddock. The pair are based in Brooklyn, New York and are ready to take over the world with their sound.
With their debut full-length album ‘Home Away From Home’ they weave a sound completely unique to themselves through the ten tracks on the LP. The record is a collection of songs that draws on the joys and sorrows of the couple’s life as it is now, via stories of love, friendship and every day family life.
The album has been produced by The Lay Awakes’ longtime friend, Jeremy McDonald. McDonald is a Pittsburgh native whose producing credits include Beyonce and Kevin Garrett.
While the mixing engineer is the renowned Grammy Award winning Will Hensley, who has worked with a raft of big name acts including Coldplay and John Mayer. Together Hensley and McDonald have produced an album that is mature yet fresh.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, Patrick says: “I sort of remember us a couple summers ago driving half way across the country with a newborn, listening to Carrie & Lowell and David Gray’s Mutineers on repeat, and wondering how soon we could try to make an album 1/10 as good as those. “
