Trevis is making waves in the music industry with his artistic versatility and intricate production. The singer-songwriter and producer recently released a brand new single, “Avenue,” and is gearing up to share his debut EP, ‘Floor Plan,’ with listeners later this summer. His career may be just getting started, but his unique sense of musicality has already garnered immense support from fans around the world. In an exclusive interview with CelebMix, Trevis opens up about his new music, the inspiration behind his debut EP, and more.
What can you tell us about your latest single “Avenue” and the meaning behind that track?
“Avenue” is one of the songs I’m most proud of making, especially [with] how the production turned out. It came from a vulnerable place. Once I had the guitar down, the melodies and what I wanted to say followed quickly. I had seen this girl for a while, and we were in that awkward stage where I didn’t know what to call us. I kept it mellow and didn’t blow her phone up, but I am a Cancer, and we are very in tune with our emotions. Staying home and overthinking is the worst thing you can do when you’re in that position. So, I went back to my old ways to try and distract myself, but ended up feeling more lonely at the club.
Does “Avenue” give listeners a preview of the sound they’ll hear on your debut EP ‘Floor Plan’ later this summer?
I like to say I dabble in genres. My sound is pop music with a heavy influence of R&B, so “Avenue” is definitely in the zone of my first EP project ‘Floor Plan.’
What else can you tell us about ‘Floor Plan’ and the inspiration behind that project?
‘Floor Plan’ is the perfect representation of how I am as an artist in this space and time. I collide my vast musical influences, from my dad playing folk-indie guitar growing up, to moving at 16 to America alone and attending high school in Los Angeles, where the only music you’d hear would be hip-hop, trap, and R&B. I love where I’m at mentally, musically, and artistically and fans can expect my greatest work yet.
Will this project feature any collaborations and if not, who would you like to work with in the future?
I love collaborating with other creatives and artists from around the world. A lot is already in the works for ‘Floor Plan,’ but I can’t share too much yet! Getting Chris Brown on a song would be a childhood and current dream come true.
Do you have any goals or things you want to accomplish before 2022 ends?
My goal and plans for 2022 are to keep building. You can expect a lot from me as we’re releasing a ton of new music, collaborations, and visuals. My favorite thing to do is perform, and I’ll be on a stage near you soon!
