Here at CelebMix, we love sharing some of our favourite musical gems with you. Today is no different, as we introduce you to the beautiful Julia Carlucci, a multi-talened artist based in Toronto.
With years of experience under her belt, Julia is busy making a name for herself as a solo artist on the music scene. Synonymous for her powerhouse vocals, she has the ability to command any audience with her emotional delivery and electrifying presence. In 2015, Julia released her highly anticipated debut EP, For Me. Since then, she has been working on new music which is ready to be heard by the world.
Her debut single, ‘Take Me Down’ is released today, and illustrates the inner struggle of love’s uncertainty and the age-old battle of “head-versus-heart”. Produced by Cat Lewis and Andrew Kesler, Julia explains, “‘Take Me Down’ is about falling for someone you know you shouldn’t. It’s when your head knows better but your heart is too curious to walk away. Although the lyrics are vulnerable, I always imagined the song with a strong sound and upbeat vibe, so the production needed to be just right. It needed to have that throwback feel but still punch like a contemporary pop record and I think we definitely achieved that.”
The track is sultry and powerful, complete with rich brass sounds. There is a strong Adele influence at the beginning of the track and during the hand-claps in the latter part. With such an irresistible track, we’re certain that Julia has the potential to follow in Adele’s footsteps and be the next big songstress in the industry.
Julia has also filmed a music video for ‘Take Me Down’, which we’re proud to be premiering exclusively today! Directed by Merik Williams, the video sees Julia accompanied by a band as the spotlight shines down on her. The visual is glamorous, and effective in its simplicity as it allows us to focus on Julia’s vocal and the incredible instrumental.
