Prepare yourselves for yet another videogame adaptation of ‘Hitman’. That’s right, ‘Hitman: Agent 47’ the second attempt by 20th Century Fox to reinvigorate the best-selling game franchise to the big screen is coming soon to home release.

Unlike its predecessor, 2007’s ‘Hitman’, fans of the game will be pleased to hear that the new film incorporates the gruelling mythology seen in its videogame counterpart. Be on the lookout for impressive visual nods to the character’s gaming catalogue.

Rupert Friend’s brilliant portrayal of the aptly named Agent 47, plays out true to the origins of its source material. Bringing even more life to the film’s proceedings is the character of John Smith, an excellent supporting performance by Zachary Quinto.

Due to its poor reception at the Box Office, it is unclear if we shall receive the expanded universe ‘Hitman: Agent 47’ was set to ignite. On the other hand, we did get this reboot after an inferior attempt, so the future may still shine bright for everyone’s favourite assassin who sports a barcode tattoo.

Adapting film properties as cinematic universes, in the same way that both Marvel and Warner Brothers are now doing, appears to be the new ‘norm.’

‘Hitman: Agent 47’ is released on DVD and Blu-Ray on December 26.
