Everybody loves a good superhero movie. You know, a movie where the good guys defeat the villains. Well, Suicide Squad is a movie that tests the boundaries on what the world thinks a superhero movie should look like. This film tells the story of a team of elite super-villains that work together to help save the world in exchange for shortened imprisonment sentences.

Suicide Squad is based off original ideas and storylines developed by DC Comics. It is the third movie in the DC Extended Universe series, it is developed by Warner Bros. Pictures, and it is directed by David Ayer. The film stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Cara Delevingne, Joel Kinnaman, Jay Hernandez, Jai Courtney, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Karen Fukuhara, Christopher Weiss, and Viola Davis.

Much of the first part of the film was dedicated to giving backstories about each character. The director and scriptwriter made sure to take you on a ride into each and every character’s world. You really felt like you knew each character personally. It’s is very impressive when a film can accomplish this in such a short amount of time and we commend Suicide Squad for taking every viewer on a journey. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, don’t worry! We summed up all the characters for you.

Will Smith plays a character by the name of Deadshot. In the movie, Deadshot is known has a dangerous hit-man and one of the best marksmen in the world. He may seem cold hearted as he does prefer to work alone, but he has a special soft spot for his daughter.

Margot Robbie plays a character known as Harley Quinn. Harley worked as a psychiatrist at a mental asylum and was at complete piece until she met one of her patients… The Joker. The two fell in love, but he corrupted Harley. She now views life as “one big, chaotic joke” as said by the Suicide Squad website.

Cara Delevingne plays a character known as Dr. June Moone/Enchantress. Dr. June Moone is an archeologist that accidentally released the enchantress after falling into a cave on one of her adventures. The wicked witch now possesses Dr. Moone’s body and carries out all her evil doings through June. However, Amanda Waller, played by Viola Davis, is a U.S. Intelligence officer that obtains the Enchantress’s heart which forces the Enchantress to be loyal to her in every way.

Jay Hernandez plays a character by the name of Diablo. Diablo can manipulate fire in ways that seem impossible, but behind his skull-tatted face, is a past dark enough to make him want to never light a flame again.

Other characters include, Rick Flag, played by Joel Kinnaman, which is a character that is in charge of keeping all these super-villians in check, and Boomerang, played by Jai Courtney, which is a character who uses his witty remarks and electric boomerangs to stir up trouble.

Two more characters are Killer Croc, played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, which is a fierce reptile that scavenges sewers waiting to attack, and Katana, played by Karen Fukuhara, which is a Samurai inspired woman who captures the souls of others with her sword.

The film also features Slipknot, a master assassin who can climb anything, played by Christopher Weiss, and the Joker, the ultimate super-villain, played by Jared Leto.

Overall, this action packed film was thrilling, humorous, and riveting. We were practically on the edge of our seats the entire time! After listening to each and every character backstory, the film picked up the pace and dove right into the action.

After the Suicide Squad was formed, they received their first mission immediately. The fighting and stunts were extravagant and abundant the entire time and with the amount of twists and turns the movie took, we never got bored for one second. The movie wasn’t all fighting and deception though. There was also a couple emotional scenes that allowed you to connect with the characters and the plot line. Overall, the movie had a great balance of action, comedy, romance, and drama to make it appeal to all kinds of audiences.

We also have to tip our hats to the Suicide Squad soundtrack. There was a song to fit every situation and every scene. We wouldn’t have picked a better selection of music for this film.

In conclusion, Suicide Squad is a very well put together movie. All the actors really connected to and portrayed their characters incredibly. The plot was engaging and the script was thoughtful and well written. This film also did a great job portraying DC Comics’s original ideas. We give Suicide Squad a 9/10.

We are not the only ones who thought Suicide Squad was a great movie. The film received a 7.1/10 on IMDB which is terrific! The movie also made an incredible $135 million since its release on August 5th, 2016. Suicide Squad is proving to be one of the best “superhero” movies to date.
