With just over two months to go until Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again makes its way to cinemas, the final trailer for the movie has been released.
Following in the same vein as the first official trailer and the international version, the final trailer begins with a pregnant Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), who says that she has “never felt closer to [her] mom, in the exact same place she was all those years ago”.
The trailer then shows Sophie celebrating with her husband Sky (Dominic Cooper), her three dads (Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan and Stellan Skarsgård) and her mum Donna’s two best friends (Julie Walters and Christine Baranski), before we are taken to the past to see how their story began.
We see a young Donna (Lily James) get swept off her feet by a young Harry, Sam and Bill (Hugh Skinner, Jeremy Irvine and Josh Dylan), whilst young Rosie and Tanya (Alexa Davies and Jessica Keenan Wynn) watch on in delight.
Back to the present day, the trailer also shows us more of Cher’s iconic cameo as Sophie’s grandmother, who exclaims that she “has decided to commit to being a grandmother”, although most likely not in the conventional sense.
In terms of music, the final trailer gives us a taste of ‘Mamma Mia!’, ‘Waterloo’, ‘Fernando’, and ‘Dancing Queen’, whilst we’ve already the likes of ‘I Have A Dream’ in the previous trailers.
Whilst the trailer gives us an extra glimpse of what we can expect from the movie, it also leads us to further question the whereabouts of Sophie’s mum, Donna (Meryl Streep). Once again, she appears in flashbacks during the trailer and is referred to in the past tense. Surely our Donna isn’t dead?! We’ll have to wait until July 20 to find out.
