It’s been a full year since the final episode of Glee aired and we are still mourning not being able to follow Blaine Anderson and Sam Evans’ friendship anymore. The two formed a strong bond during the fourth season and remained close for the remainder of the show. We have listed five reasons why we’re missing the epicness that was Blam.
Their duets
It’s no secret that the two had some serious musical chemistry. Their voices always complemented each other perfectly, and their duets remain some of our favourites! Some of our favourites include Heroes, Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, and Best Day of my Life.
Their geekiness
Both Blaine and Sam have proved to be major geeks – and we love it! They are both obsessed with comic books and superheroes, and they named themselves “Nightbird” and “Blonde Chameleon”. They even started a superhero club at McKinley High, that’s some serious dedication right there.
Their mutual adoration of each other
Blaine couldn’t hide his crush on Sam in season four, and although Sam is straight he wasn’t uncomfortable in the slightest. Blaine is his best friend and he adores him even if it’s not romantically. They always compliment each other and make sure that the other person is happy and comfortable.
Their support for each other
Blaine and Sam have always supported each other throughout their friendship. Sam supported Blaine after his breakup with Kurt, and he was the reason that Blaine stayed at McKinley. Blaine supported Sam after he got terrible SAT scores and was afraid he wasn’t good enough to make it. Sam also supported Blaine’s decision to propose to Kurt and decided to help him, even though he wasn’t crazy about the idea.
Them just being best friends
Even the small things in their friendship make us happy. Such as Blaine reading Star Wars fanfiction to Sam, who is dyslectic, until he falls asleep, or Sam shaving Blaine’s back. In the final episode of the show, Blaine says that even though he’s happy with his life in New York he still misses his best friend who lives in Ohio. Blaine even made sure that he and Kurt had a spare room, although small, just in case Sam changed his mind and decided to move back to the Big Apple. And just to prove that these guys are truly BFF’s – Sam was even Blaine’s best friend in his dream sequence.
Bonus: The real life friendship of Darren Criss and Chord Overstreet
There’s no doubt that Blaine and Sam’s on-screen chemistry comes from Darren and Chord’s friendship in real life. They have both stated numerous times that they became best friends on the show and that their scenes together were the most fun to shoot. At the Giffoni Film Festival last year, Darren was asked what his best memory from Glee was. He answered,
“Chord Overstreet – maybe the coworker I’ve bonded the most with during my five years on Glee – and I, we had to sing a cover of Wake Me Up Before You Go Go by Wham. Unfortunately, the recording session was after a pretty animated night of the Oscars, we drank and we went to sleep at 3am. The session was at 7am. We were a wreck but we started singing it so hysterically that came out perfect at the end.”
