Gabriella Cilmi returned to the music scene last week with the release of her stunning new single ‘Ruins’ and the music video was released yesterday.
The ‘Sweet About Me’ songstress returns with a more mature and authentic sound, the new single described as ‘a beautiful piece of glided country-soul’, is her first solo release since the album ‘The Sting’ in 2014.
Gabriella Cilmi said ‘we filmed [the video] at Eastcote studio whilst recording the EP, taking turns filming each other with our iPhones or whatever camera we could get our hands on!’
Cilmi shot to fame at a very young age and enjoyed chart success after chart success around the globe with other hit singles including ‘On A Mission’ and ‘Warm This Winter’, a cover of the classic Connie Fisher track ‘I’m Gonna Be Warm This Winter’. She also bagged herself six ARIA Music Awards, including ‘Best Female Artist’ and ‘Single Of The Year’ in 2008.
10 years on, the Australian singer has found her path as she has blossomed into an independent artist, working alongside her brother Joseph, as a co-writer, and producer Eliot James – the team are all shown in the music video, alongside some special youngsters, giving a helping hand. This will all lead to Gabriella’s forthcoming EP and a possible album in the new year.
Gabriella will also be performing at her own London headline show, St. Pancras Old Church, November 7th. Tickets on sale now by clicking here.
The new single ‘Ruins’ is out now to download and stream everywhere, alongside the music video.
