Congratulations are in order for actor George Clooney and his wife Amal as they’ve welcomed their twins into the world.
International human-rights lawyer Amal gave birth to a girl and a boy, Ella and Alexander, earlier today. A statement from their publicist Stan Rosenfield said: “This morning Amal and George welcomed Ella and Alexander Clooney into their lives. Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine. George is sedated and should recover in a few days.”
The couple have been married since 2014, and Ella and Alexander are their first children. Earlier this year, George spoke in an interview about becoming a first-time father in his 50’s. Speaking to Rencontres de Cinema, he said: “We are really happy and really excited. It’s going to be an adventure. We’ve sort of embraced it all … with arms wide open.”
He also revealed that some of his friends had teased him about becoming a father later in life. “My favorite part is, you know, all my friends who are my age, and I have many of them, they’re already done. Their kids are all grown up and away to college and they are laughing,” George said.
“We went out to dinner the other night, and it’s a table of eight guys and all their kids are away in college, and we are sitting there and they were all being very supportive, ‘Everything is going to be great, you’re going to love it,'” he continued. “Then it got really quiet, and they all just started making baby crying and the whole table just busted up laughing.”
We’re delighted for George and Amal as they welcome Ella and Alexander into the fold and we wish them all the very best.
