Galantis really brought it on Wednesday 14 February 2018 – yes, it was Valentine’s Day and we spent it at the London Roundhouse watching this Swedish DJ duo. How could we say no when we were invited to see them perform? And, what a show they put on!
We weren’t sure what to expect, although we hadn’t had the best day leading up to the concert; and so, we were hoping this would bring some of the love of Valentine’s Day back to us, and it sure did that.
Galantis came on at 9:15 pm, so it was a bit of a wait, but it was beyond worth it. We had two support acts to build up the energy, pump up the crowd, and create an exciting atmosphere. Both Pat Lok and CID did just that, giving us a wondrous set and really showcasing their talents.
Pat Lok was first on, giving an interesting set that allowed the crowd to slowly grow the club-like vibe and really feel the music; yet, it was CID that really got the party started with an engaging set throughout. The music brought the crowd to life as they got more and more excited about Galantis coming onto the stage.
The London Roundhouse was an interesting setting for a DJ set, yet it completely worked out well for every single person; whether you were standing in the crowd; standing at the back with the free space; or up in the circle of seats – like we were. Some of our views were obscured by a pillar; however. the acts brought amazing visual effects with them that made our experience incredible, whether we could actually see them or not.
We recorded our whole experience on our Snapchat story. If you managed to watch what happened on Wednesday night, we sure hope you enjoyed viewing the show. For those of you who missed it, make sure you add CelebMix on Snapchat so you don’t miss another one; next, you’ll want to click play on the video below as that’s our Snapchat story from 14 February.
Galantis were on fire from start to finish. They completely surprised us from the blasting of the incredible music, their unstoppable remixes of songs we adore, as well as mixing in their own songs which we knew every word to. If you ever wonder if you had a good time at a concert or not, the first and foremost thing you need to know is if you have one of the act’s songs stuck in your head, and that is certainly what happened to us.
Days after the gig, we still had “Peanut Butter Jelly” stuck in our heads. Yet, that wasn’t the only song that stood out from their sets “Runaway (U & I)” certainly worked with the love that was in the air, along with the awesome remix of Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)”; both songs certainly made it an iconic night.
Other stand-out moments were hearing “Love On Me”, “Girls On Boys” and “Louder Harder Better”. We didn’t know what a Galantis gig would be like, but they not only impressed from start to finish but they managed to exceed all of our expectations. We so want to see them again, they brought so much energy to the venue that as each new song came along we were already ready to listen, to dance, to rave, and to sing-a-long to every word.
There was one moment where our hearts completely melted. “Tell Me You Love Me”, which is their latest single in collaboration with Throttle, came on and there was so much love in the air we could literally see heart emojis all around; this was just the most perfect song to play on Valentine’s Day, and we’ll just remember that part of the gig for the rest of our lives.
We can’t fault the amazing light show and pyrotechnics – we could feel the fire, even though we were quite far away; and, the release of the paper streams and the confetti totally made it a great night. Is there anything Galantis didn’t do? We had a brilliant experience and we really wish we could travel up north to go and see this Swedish DJ duo perform at the final sold-out shows in the UK, which are tonight and tomorrow at Manchester and Glasgow, respectively.
If you aren’t going to see them tonight or tomorrow, we urge you to make sure you get tickets the next time they’re in the UK for a tour; they’re one act you do not want to miss.
