Grammy Awards Performers Announced

With the Grammy’s being the biggest night in music, it’s fitting that only the best artists perform during the awards ceremony. On Wednesday morning, the Recording Academy announced four performers set to take the stage for the 58th annual Grammy Awards. The artists have a combined 20 nominations in total!

Adele, having won ten Grammy Awards in the past for her music, plans to make her debut on the Grammy stage since 2012. That performance was her comeback after being on a brief hiatus. During that period, Adele had surgery on her vocal cords to remove a polyp that might have caused permanent damage to her voice.

Kendrick Lamar is also set to perform. He leads the pack with the most Grammy nominations of the night – 11, spanning various categories. Previously, during the 2014 Grammy’s ceremony, Lamar was on stage with Imagine Dragons and performed a mash-up of “M.A.A.D City” and a remix of “Radioactive”. His album, To Pimp A Butterfly, was released in March of last year and earned Lamar his first Billboard 200 album.

Even though it will be his first Grammy performance, The Weeknd is not shy of nominations. His album, The Beauty Behind the Madness, has landed the singer seven nominations – tying him with Taylor Swift. The album has been in competition with Swift’s 1989 since it was released. The Weeknd’s became the first album since Swift’s to stay at the top of the Billboard 200 for three weeks in a row.

Rounding out the list, the country group Little Big Town will take the stage. The four-piece have two nominations this year, both for their hit song “Girl Crush”. The song had some controversy surrounding it, when radio listeners claimed the song promoted “the gay agenda”. Despite the drama, the single peaked at number one on a Billboard chart.
