The ’00s pop-rock band are back, after 15 long years their hiatus is finally over and Iglu & Hartly have been dropping awesome new music, with their latest single and music video being “Swayze”. Having reached huge success in the UK with their pop-rock hits, the group proves exactly how they’ve evolved during that time apart. This acts as the follow-up to their previous single “The Crown”.
Hailing from the picturesque foothills of Colorado, Iglu & Hartly is an electrifying American pop-rock ensemble currently based in Los Angeles, California. Frontman Jarvis Anderson reinvigorated this project after an initial remarkable journey that saw the band gain fame in the mid-2000s with their UK top 10 hit “In This City”, which then led to a hiatus for 15 years. Now, they’re back with a resounding bang, reigniting their synth-heavy sound that has fans excited once again. Led by the visionary Jarvis Anderson, whose enthralling stage presence and captivating frontman charisma drew widespread acclaim and landed them on prestigious stages like Coachella and the Isle of Wight, the band is rekindling their passion for creating unique and mesmerising music. Free from the confines of a record label, Iglu & Hartly are forging their path once more, delivering fresh tracks like “Swayze” and preparing to embark on a highly anticipated UK tour, hitting up Glasgow, Manchester, and London along the way. With an eclectic blend of influences and a boundless musical spirit, Iglu & Hartly promises to captivate audiences once more with their invigorated presence on the global music stage.
Talking about this new release, frontman Jarvis Anderson said: “While writing this song I imagined a femme fatale whose wild spirit could only be matched by a man like one of Swayze’s iconic characters.”

Written by Brandon Eisenbeis, Dave Orton, Ethan Kaufman, and Jarvis Anderson, while it has been produced by Ethan Kaufman and Jarvis Anderson, “Swayze” is an ode to 80’s film legend Patrick Swayze, with an addictive chorus and a synth-heavy pop-rock style that is beyond catchy. Iglu & Hartly manage to focus on a variety of themes from letting go and being young whilst also being loved up. The eternal youth angle alongside the recklessness of being a lover like Swayze, captures the hearts of the listeners, all the while referring to the film star who is no longer with us – we sure do miss Patrick Swayze. The sentimental lyrics are delivered with Jarvis Anderson’s hyped-up energy and emotions, fuelling a passionate and heart-driven vocal – something we’ve come to expect from him. Add that to their signature synth rhythm and drum-heavy chords, mixed around an ’80s-inspired beat, their typical ’00s style, and the addicting mainstream pop-rock melodies, and together you’ve got another treasure of a track from Iglu & Hartly that is bound to stay with every single listener.
As for the music video, which has been directed by Bow Robinson and Graham Robinson, with Peter Trow acting as Director of Photography, we watch Jarvis Anderson perform this track at the beach, topless, in some blue swimming shorts, which is then intercut with scenes of Dirty Dancing. The video description claims, “The overt modifications to ‘Dirty Dancing’ footage seen in this video are permissible under fair use principles in U.S. copyright laws.” This sentence is important, as they have modified various scenes from the classic film by editing Jarvis Anderson’s face onto Patrick Swayze’s body, to make it look like he is the one dancing with Jennifer Grey’s character Frances “Baby” Houseman. Edited well and obviously and easily linking in with wishing to be a lover like Swayze – or in fact actually be Swayze – it’s memorable, clever, and funny, this music video really has comedic value.
