Norwegian pop singer Astrid S rose to fame after she participated in Norway’s version of “Pop Idol” at age sixteen, and released her first two singles “Shattered” and “2am”. She was recently nominated for “Best Norwegian Act” for the MTV Europe Music Awards.
CelebMix had the chance to interview Astrid S about her music and inspirations. Astrid revealed her deep feelings behind her recent single “Emotion”, and what she enjoys to do in her free time.
What was the inspiration behind the music video for “Emotion”?
I wanted to portray it kinda not so obvious. I think it personally can go towards any relationship like a boyfriend, girlfriend, parent, sibling, and even sometimes yourself.
Do you feel connections to your music? Do you feel the biggest connection when writing or when singing?
I feel the biggest connection when writing. I can look back and relate later on and sometimes relate even more than I did when I first wrote it.
Will you be touring soon?
Yes but I can’t say much about that yet.
What introduced you to music?
I think always being surrounded by it introduced me to it. I grew up listening to it.
What hobbies do you enjoy outside of music?
I love to cook, read, running, painting, drawing, and hanging out with my friends.
What musical legends would you enjoy having a duet with? Dead or alive?
There’s so many! I think Amy Winehouse, Frank Sinatra, John Mayer, and Coldplay.
Last question. Would you change one thing about your career? Why or why not?
That’s a good one. I wouldn’t change much, I just wish everything would go faster. I’m at a good place right now though.
