Takeoff Zay is a 22 year old songwriter and music artist from Georgia who recently released his new hit single, “Dior”. We had the chance to interview Zay last week.
Q: What got you into making music?
A: My older brother Trey Lo Escobar has been making music since I can remember. As a younger brother, I saw that and got inspired. I’ve always had a passion for music and wanted to express my creativity and energy in my own way.
Q: What was the inspiration behind your new song “Dior”?
A: Dior was inspired by Popsmoke’s song, and I just wanted to add my own twist on it. I think art mostly comes from within, and I wanted to put my own expression on smoa song that I liked.
Q: Who are your favorite music artists?
A: No Cap, NBA Youngboy, Lil Baby
Q: Who outside of the music industry inspires you?
A: Definitely my mom. Seeing all that she’s been through and all that she’s achieved so far is very inspiring. Her support means everything. From day one she pushed me to pursue my dreams and work hard at them.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A: I see myself performing around the world and winning a Grammy. I have big dreams and nothing will stop me from getting where I believe I can go.
