Awake Til Dawn is a four-piece pop punk, pop rock girl band originating from South East England. The band consists of Emily Calvey (Vocalist, Guitarist), Lucy Rollinson-Payne (Vocalist, Guitarist), India Ashby (Bassist), and Jessica Darke (Vocalist, Drummer).
Getting to know the girls of Awake Til Dawn was absolutely incredible (despite the slight time difference). Are you ready to find out more about these lovely ladies?
Their Start
Awake Til Dawn was formed on November 1st, 2015. They met up in school and became really close friends shortly after. The idea to form a band was brought up by Lucy, when they were watching a 5SOS livestream on Halloween night earlier last year.
Emily thought of the name of the band with India when they were sitting in the back of their history class.
Hey Violet, 5 Seconds of Summer, One Direction, Nickelback, Red Hot Chili Peppers, All Time Low, and My Chemical Romance are just a few of the bands that have inspired the girls of Awake Til Dawn to be the band that they are today.
“We put a lot of effort into it and learned a lot of new skills as a band.”
Their Music
They are leaning towards the pop punk and pop rock genres and have covered artists such as Bring Me The Horizon, 5 Seconds of Summer, and Hey Violet, which are all bands that fall under the same categories.
They are currently working on writing songs and original lyrics but it remains top secret.

Introducing The Members
Emily is the sarcastic and humorous member of the group. She loves looking at memes (us too!) and plays instruments such as the guitar and the ukelele. In addition, her favorite member of One Direction is Liam, her favorite member of 5 Seconds of Summer is Michael, and her favorite members of Hey Violet are Rena and Nia.
“She is honest, isn’t afraid to speak her mind and I feel everyone needs an “Emily” in their lives!”
Lucy is the lively, chatty, crazy, and adventurous member of the group. She enjoys playing guitar and has been playing for 2 years. She loves trying out new things as well as writing and listening to music. Her hobbies include attending concerts and making and watching films. In addition, her favourite member of One Direction is Niall, her favorite member of 5 Seconds of Summer is Michael, and her favorite members of Hey Violet are all of them.
“I always try to stay positive and make the most out of situations as I believe that when you are positive, it casts upon others!”
India is what she likes to call herself the lazy member of the band. She plays bass but considers herself not to be musically talented (which she is! Ask any of us!). Listening to music is her top interest. In addition, her favorite member of One Direction is Harry, her favorite member of 5 Seconds of Summer is Luke, her favorite member of Hey Violet is Rena and her favorite member of All Time Low is Jack.
“One day I decided I really wanted to play the bass. This was a big thing for me because I didn’t believe I could play anything because I believed I was not ‘musically talented’.”
Jessica is the friendly member of the band. She enjoys listening to music and plays many different instruments such as guitar, piano, drums, ukulele, bass, and she sings. Her hobbies include watching YouTube videos with Lucy. In addition, her favorite member of One Direction is Liam, her favorite member of 5 Seconds of Summer is Calum, and her favorite member of Hey Violet is Nia.
“I often put others before myself. I feel that a small gesture can really influence someone, especially if they’re having a bad day so I try to be as positive as possible.”
These ladies really know how it’s like to be a band and continue to try and better themselves, to help them move forward.
