If you haven’t by now, it’s time you listen to Who Is Fancy.
Who Is Fancy is an American pop singer from Arkansas who is cosigned with Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta on Big Machine Label Group. Braun and Borchetta, who are responsible for some of music’s biggest stars like Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift, discovered Fancy while he was in university where he performed original music.
In early 2015, Who Is Fancy released his first single, a catchy breakup jam, “Goodbye”. The single was released without ever revealing the identity of the artist. Fans were left to wonder who the mastermind was behind the amazing pop track. The mystery behind the song created a ton of buzz and “Goodbye” gained support from major radio stations. The song even reached #29 on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart.
Three videos were released for the single. Each video featured a different actor lip-synching to the song, but Who Is Fancy was never present. The videos tackled themes like confidence, body positivity and gender identity all while highlighting the incredible song.
In April, Who Is Fancy revealed his identity while performing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The mastermind behind the pop anthem was revealed to be Jake Hagood. Hagood got his stage name Who Is Fancy after being nicknamed “Fancy” by his co-workers at Forever 21.
Since the release of “Goodbye”, Who Is Fancy has opened for Meghan Trainor on her MTrain Tour and Ariana Grande on The Honeymoon Tour. The three artists collaborated on a song called “Boys Like You” which was released in late 2015. The catchy love song has an amazing doo-wop vibe that highlights each artist’s voice perfectly.
